To build this fitness center, located in a downtown DC commercial building, Martone Construction began by demolishing the existing space. As with all our projects, this project took place in a fully occupied building where tenants are conducting business as usual. Our team worked early in the morning to ensure that no one was disrupted during the construction process.
The project included a new stand-alone HVAC water-sourced heat pump, which our team tied into the building management system. The addition of this unique feature was due to the fact that the fitness center was designed to remain open 24/7 for the building tenants. We constructed the fitness center with rubber athletic flooring, mirrored walls, glass entry doors, decorative pendant light fixtures, linear strip light fixtures, decorative wallcovering and painted drywall. The project also included building two locker rooms with key-less digital locks. Our team constructed six new showers with frosted glass doors and tiled walls and floors, locker benches, toilets and partitions, and sinks with solid surface counter tops.
